Year 2020 - Czech and Slovakian stations Ogimet SYNOP, including Polish 12510 Sniezka (at Czech border, there is too Czech station 11653 Snezka), 32 selected stations. Daily summaries are 23-23 UTC, it is 00-24 SEC (local time zone). Daily averages are from 24 termin observations (including temperature). But daily Tmax and Tmin (highest and lowest temperature) might be more complicated.

There are termin observations once a hour at station. Exact Tmax report is for period 18-18 UTC or 06-18 UTC and exact Tmin report is for period 06-06 UTC or 18-06 UTC. Daily summary Ogimet SYNOP here is 23-23 UTC resp. 00-24 SEC. Especially stations from Scandinania has computed daily Tmax and Tmin differently (Tmax and Tmin has exact report twice a day, for 12-hours intervals 06-18 UTC and 18-06 UTC). It means with sumarry 23-23 UTC - Tmax and Tmin values are tooken from interval 06-18 UTC and 18-06 UTC - including period 18-23 UTC from previous day, plus for the same day as day for daily summary - 18-23 UTC hourly observations are included for calculating extreme temperatures (not exact Tmax and Tmin report for this evening perion included, only hourly data). Exact Tmax Tmin report 18-06 UTC interval include 18-23 UTC from previous day - it sometimes affect Tmax and Tmin averages, extremes, statistics and number of days with specific Tmax and Tmin. SYNOP stations in Slovakia has exact report Tmax and Tmin once a 24 hours and hourly data are also included for calculating Tmax and Tmin. It looks, Tmax and Tmin in Czech Republic fits quite well to daily summary 23-23 UTC (00-24 SEC), exact Tmax is reported probably 06-18 UTC and exact Tmin report 18-06 UTC (including 18-23 UTC from previous day). Daily summary of precipitation is usually 06-06 UTC, but it should be possible to find from SYNOP report precipitation ammount for every hour and daily summary 23-23 UTC should fit. If precipitation ammount is only track (less than 0.1 mm, but non-zero), then value is given 0.04 mm (real exact value is too small for determine, it is just non-zero).

CHMI (Czech Hydro-Meteorological Institute) and SHMI (Slovakian Hydro-Meteorological Institute) data contains daily Tmax and Tmin for 24 hours 21-21 mean Solar time, precipitation 07-07 mean solar time. It means than Period for extreme temperatures contains evening time 21-24 mean Solar time (around 20-23 UTC) from previous day and not contains 21-24 mean Solar time from the day with Tmax-Tmim value. Precipitation ammount is from 00-07 mean Solar time next day and not contains 00-07 mean Solar time for the day with precipitation ammount value. Mean Solar time is quite silmilar to Winter Middle-European time SEC, however it is around 20 minutes difference between west and east of Czech Republic (4 minutes per 1 degree of lattitude).



Year 2020 was generally in Czech Republic and Slovakia with extreme warm Winter (December-January-February) 2019-2020 and exteme warm December 2020. Autumn 2020 was with quite lot of rain in September-October but November is dry. East of Czech Republic has signiticantly higher precipitation ammount than west and central region of Czech republic in Autumn 2020. Summer 2020 was not so warm, significantly colder than warmest Summers on record 2018 and 2019. There was often in many warm Czech locations not a day with Tmax +35 °C or more or daily Tmin Tmin +20 °C or more during year 2020. There was significantly less tropical days (Tmax +30 °C or more) during year 2020 than during previous years. East of Czech Republic got significantly more precipitation during autumn 2020, but there was higher precipitation ammount in year 2020 than in previous years at most of stations in Czech Republic or Slovakia. Warmest month of year 2020 was usually August, coldest month usually January. However, January 2020 was dry and with lot of inversion situations. When Ice day (Tmax bellow 0 °C) occured in Prague during January 2020, highest Czech point and station 12510 Sniezka (1603 m, Polish station, on the border PL-CZ) recorded daily Tmax above 0 °C at the same day. Months with highest precipitation ammount were August, June and October. October was often month with highest precipitation during year 2020 in east of Czech Republic and in some places in Slovakia. February and August was with lot of precipitation in mountains. Driest months were April (especially), November, January. April was extreme warm and extreme sunny and dry, with high average temperature amplitude, it is visible in graphs.

Stations 11710 Luka 513 m above sea (Tmax for year 2020 at the station 28.07.2020 +29.8 °C) and 11791 Hostalkova - Maruska 664 m above sea, on the hill (Tmax for year 2020 on the station 09.08.2020 +27.2 °C), are without tropical day during year 2020. Czech republic has only 38 SYNOP stations (plus Polish 12510 Sniezka) and more than 250 basic climatological stations. There might be another stations less than 700 m above sea or even less than 500 m above sea, without tropical day in year 2020.

Highest temperatures for Summer months and for entire year 2020 in Czech Republic - June 11509 Doksany 13.06.2020 +32.3 °C, July Dobrichovice 28.07.2020 +35.6 °C, August 11509 Doksany 08.08.2020 +35.0 °C and Kopisty 09.08.2020 +35.5 °C. If we look at private stations on website in-pocasi.cz, then Highest temperature in Czech Republic for year 2020 is from Brandys nad Labem 28.07.2020 +35.8 °C. From all CHMI stations (Czech Hydro-Meteorological Institute) - there were 3 days with reaching +35 °C or more in Czech Republic during year 2020. First Tropical day (Tmax +30 °C or more) occured in Czech Republic 13.06.2020 - quite late.

If we look only at 38 Czech SYNOP stations plus at CZ-PL border Polish station 12510 Sniezka (1603 m above sea). Highest temperatures for Summer months from Ogimet SYNOP stations are - June 11509 Doksany 13.06.2020 +32.3 °C, July 11520 Praha Libus 28.07.2020 +34.8 °C, August 11509 Doksany 08.08.2020 +35.0 °C and 11509 Doksany 09.08.2020 +35.1 °C. 11509 Doksany is only one Czech SYNOP station, where +35 °C or more was reached during year 2020, it was during two days 08-09.08.2020.

By soundings from 11520 Praha Libus (data from University of Wyoming) - Highest temperature at 850 hPa during year 2020 is 22.08.2020 00 UTC +21.4 °C (ThetaE +62.5 °C, Dew point +9.4 °C), highest ThetaE at 850 hPa during year 2020 is 14.08.2020 12 UTC +64.3 °C (T850 +15.6 °C, Dew Point +13.7 °C). Dew point at 850 hPa 14.08.2020 12 UTC +13.7 °C is highest Dew point at 850 hPa for year 2020 (At the same termin like highest ThetaE). Higher Dew point at 850 hPa occured last time during heat vawe at June-July 2019 - 01.07.2019 06 UTC T850 +20.6 °C, ThetaE at 850 hPa +72.5 °C, Dew point at 850 hPa +14.6 °C - it is one of highest ThetaE at 850 hPa and Dew point at 850 hPa in recent years.

Highest temperature at 850 hPa during period 1973-2020 at 11520 Praha Libus is 12.07.1984 00 UTC T850 +26.0 °C (ThetaE +53.0 °C, Dew point -2.0 °C), 27.07.1983.18 T850 +24.8 °C (ThetaE +60.6 °C, Dew point +5.8 °C), 08.08.2013 00 UTC T850 +24.2 °C (ThetaE +56.5 °C, Dew point +3.2 °C). Highest ThetaE and Highest Dew point at 850 hPa during period 1973-2020 at 11520 Praha Libus is from the same tremins 04.08.1986 18 UTC ThetaE +81.4 °C (Dew point +17.7 °C, T850 +21.0 °C) and 30.08.1977 12 UTC ThetaE +80.9 °C (Dew point +17.1 °C, T850 +22.0 °C) Next sounding 6 hours after - 30.08.1977 18 UTC is missing.  August 1986 is well-known for very wet air and many strong thunderstorms, including 18.08.1986 supercell with 12 cm hails.

Lowest temperature during Winter months and whole Winter 2019-2020 (December-January-February) were at frost hollows December 29.12.2019 Breznik -19.4 °C, January 21.01.2020 Rokytska Slat -19.8 °C, February 06.02.2020 Kvilda Perla - Jezerni Slat -19.9 °C. Lowest temperature in Czech Republic during Astronomical Winter (21.12.2019-21.03.2021) was again 06.02.2020 Kvilda Perla - Jezerni Slat -19.9 °C. However there were cold blasts after end of meteorological and astronomical Winter. First case of frost -20 °C and bellow, during Cold season 2019-2020 (October-March), occured 23.03.2020 Kvilda Perla - Jezerni Slat -22.1 °C and lowest temperature for entire year 2020 in Czech Republic is from frost hollow Jizerka, Horni Jizera (new station) 01.04.2020 -23.9 °C and Jizerka Raseliniste 01.04.2020 -22.8 °C. It is quite rare - lowest temperature for whole cold season (October-March) is just after season, in April (april is already start of warm season). Lowest temperature for season 01.10.2019 - 31.03.2020 is 23.03.2020 Kvilda Perla - Jezerni Slat -22.1 °C.

Lowest temperature in Czech republic for Winter (December-January-February) 2019-2020 from SYNOP stations is 22.01.2020 at 11683 Svratouch -11.8 °C and for cold season 2019-2020 (October-March) and for whole year 2020 lowest temperature is 23.03.2020 at 11653 Snezka CZ -14.5 °C resp. 12510 Sniezka PL -14.5 °C. Arctic day (Tmax -10.0 °C or less) did not occured during Winter (December-January-February) 2019-2020 at any SYNOP station in Czech Republic. Arctic day in Czech Republic occured only at Polish 12510 Sniezka (1603 m) 23.03.2020 Tmax -10.8 °C and at Czech 11653 Snezka (1602 m) 3 days 22-24.03.2020 (it is almost Arctic day with midnight warming at Czech Snezka 30-31.03.2020) during entire year 2020 and entire cold season 2019-2020 (October-March). Due to Snow and ice - data from Czech Snezka are often wrong and not reliable during cold Winter blasts, Polish 12510 Sniezka Sniezka works well. 3 Arctic days at Czech 11653 Snezka micht be wrong.

There was no ThetaE at 850 hPa bellow 0 °C in Czech Republic (sounding from 11520 Praha Libus and 11747 Prostejov) during entire year 2020 and entire cold season 2019-2020 (October-March). By soundings from 11520 Praha Libus (data from University of Wyoming) - Lowest temperature at 850 hPa and lowest ThetaE at 850 hPa is from two termins 23.03.2020 00 UTC T850 -12.1 °C (ThetaE +3.6 °C, Dew point -18.1 °C) and 30.03.2020 06 UTC T850 -11.9 °C (ThetaE +3.1 °C, Dew point -20.9 °C) (Sounding 30.03.2020 00 UTC is missing). 25.03.2020 00 UTC Dew point -36.3 °C (T850 -5.3 °C, ThetaE +8.2 °C), however lowest Dew point at 850 hPa during entire year 2020 is 06.01.2020 00 UTC Dew point -48.1 °C (T850 -1.1 °C, ThetaE +12.1 °C), it is lowest Dew point at 850 hPa for many years.

Last time, when ThetaE at 850 hPa bellow 0 °C occur at 11520 Praha Libus, is during big Arctic blast February-March 2018. Last sounding termin with ThetaE bellow zero 02.03.2018 00 UTC ThetaE 850 hPa -0.4 °C (T850 -16.3 °C, Dew point -16.3 °C), lowest values T850 and ThetaE at 850 hPa were at the same termin 28.02.2018 06 UTC T850 -20.5 °C, ThetaE 850 hPa -6.2 °C, Dew point -22.0 °C. It is far latest T850 bellow -20 °C at 11520 Praha Libus during period 1973-2020. 25.02.2018 06 UTC at 850 hPa Dew point -33.5 °C (T850 -15.5 °C, ThetaE at 850 hPa -2.4 °C).

Lowest T850 and ThetaE at 850 hPa at 11520 Praha Libus during period 1973-2020 is from three Arctic blast, from the same termins 01.01.1979 12 UTC T850 -25.7 °C (ThetaE −12.5 °C Dew point -27.6 °C), 12.01.1987 12 UTC T850 -25.3 °C (ThetaE −12.1 °C Dew point -27.9 °C), 06.02.1991 00 UTC T850 -21.9 °C (ThetaE −8.0 °C, Dew point -24.1. °C). Lowest Dew point at 850 hPa at 11520 Praha Libus during period 1973-2020 is 17.02.2008 06 UTC Dew point -54.9 °C (T850 -6.9 °C, ThetaE +5.9 °C) and 10.12.2002 12 UTC Dew point -53.5 °C (T850 -5.5 °C, ThetaE +7.4 °C) and 12.12.2002 00 UTC Dew point -53.1 °C (T850 -4.1 °C, ThetaE +8.9 °C).

After many quite dry years in row - year 2020 was in Czech Republic with precipitation ammount above normal. September and especially October 2020 was with lot of rain especially in East of Czech Republic. There was big precipitation ammount in June and July. November was dry, January was dry with lot of inversion situations and April was very dry, warm and sunny.

Czech SYNOP station with highest yearly precipitation ammount is 11787 Lysa hora (1324 m above sea), ammount for year 2020 is 1976.8 mm - wettest months are June 321.4 mm, October 306.6 mm and August 252.3 mm - Driest months April 13.6 mm, January 53.3 mm and December 61.1 mm. Polish-Czech 12510 Snezka 1603 m (Czech station with highest elevation) is with yearly precipitation ammount (data from Ogimet SYNOP daily summary 23-23 UTC) 1059.8 mm. Wetterst months are February 166.4 mm, August 155.9 and June 150.9 mm, driest months April 16.3 mm, November 36.7 mm and December 53.0 mm. Yearly precipitation ammount at 11730 Serak 1328 m above sea (data from Ogimet SYNOP daily summary 23-23 UTC) is 1567.3 mm, but 339.4 mm in June, 204.5 mm in October and 183.9 mm in February (Driest months 50.6 mm in December, 54.0 mm in January and 60.3 mm in April). That is Czech precipitation ammount from Ogimet SYNOP (Daily summary 23-23 UTC). Highest daily precipitation ammount during year 2020 in Czech Republic from Ogimet SYNOP (Daily summary 23-23 UTC) is 09.12.2020 at 11423 Primda (742 m above sea, west of Czech Republic) 117.2 mm and 19.08.2020 at 11787 Lysa hora 107.1 mm (Only in this two cases daily precipitation at SYNOP station exceed 100 mm).

If we look at Czech historical data archive (all stations, not only few SYNOP stations), then highest yearly precipitation ammount in Czech Republic is from Korenov-Jizerka 2202 mm during year 1926 (1926 is the same year, when year without Tropical day - exceeding +30.0 °C occured at 11858 Hurbanovo - south Slovakian station 115 m above sea). Unofficial yearly precipitation ammount record in Czech Republic is from station Bily Potok U Studanky, more than 2600 mm during the same year 1926. Driest year (lower precipitation ammount) record in Czech Republic is from station Velke Pritocno, 247 mm during year 1933. Historical highest monthly precipitation ammount in Czech Republic is from station Lysa hora (SYNOP station 11787) 813 mm during July 1997. There was catastrofical floods in east of Czech republic during July 1997. Historical record for daily precipitation ammount in Czech Republic is from Bedrichov-Nova Louka 29.7.1897 345.1 mm, recent daily record Cinovec (Krusne hory) 12.08.2002 312-313 mm during big flood event. And strongest cloudburst (during last centuries) occured during organize convection at Mladotice (district Plzen North) 25.05.1872 237 mm during 1.5 hour or even 1 hour, Mecholupy (6 km from Zatec, in Lowland) 25.05.1872 289 mm in 12-15 hours. There micht be precipitation over 300 mm in Czech west Lowland, normally dry area during day 25.05.1872.

Highest yearly precipitation normal in Czech Republic is from Bily Potok U Studanky 1705 mm during almost whole 50 years period 1901-1950, lowest Czech yearly precipitation normal Libedice 410 mm (during which period ?).

Small town Kunovice lays of South-East Moravia. It is place with lot of Summer days (Tmax +25.0 °C or more) and tropical days (Tmax +30.0 °C or more). Town and personal station is situated at area with small hills around. Station is on light slope probably.

There si small airport near Kunovice. Observations in Kunovice airport are only in some days, when airport is active, data from Kunovice airport are in GSOD database. But here are statistics from private station Kunovice. Private station Kunovice at in-pocasi.cz:

Year 2020 in Kunovice was with very warm winter 2019-2020 and very warm december 2020. Autumn 2020 was with lot of rain as in east of Czech republic. Summer 2020 was not so warm like Summer 2018 and 2019. There was not any day with daily Tmax +35 °C or more, or day with daily Tmin +20 °C or more in Kunovice during year 2020. There were significantly less tropical days (daily Tmax +30 °C or more) in Kunovice during year 2020 than during previous years. There was significantly more ammount of precipitation in east than in west of Czech Republic during year 2020. And there were days with lot of precipitation in Kunovice during year 2020.

During year 2020 in Kunovice - warmest month August with Tavg +21.82 °C, coldest January with Tavg 0.0 °C. Rainiest months in Kunovice during year 2020 were June with 152.7 mm, October with 139.8 mm and driest months April with 11.4 mm and January 14.4 mm. Sudomerice is village near Hodonin and Straznice - inside warmest area in Czech Republic (South-East Moravia). Private station is 189 m above Sea Closest CHMI (Czech Hydro-Meteorological Institute) basic climatological station is Straznice and closest SYNOP station is in another country Slovakia 11801 Malacky. Geographical position of Sudomerice statiod causes lot of tropical nights (night Tmin +20.0 °C or more), Tmin at Straznice (CHMI station) are often lower, but still high. Record high daily Tmin - Tnx (including private stations) in Czech Republic is from Sudomerice Tmin 08.08.2013 23-23 UTC +27.4 °C. Record warmest daily Tmin 21-21 mean Solar time from CHMI (Czech Hydro-Meteorological Institute) is from Bystrice pod Hostynem Tmin 08.08.2013 +27.2 °C, previous record is Bystrice pod Hostynem Tmin 29.08.1992 +26.9 °C.

Station Sudomerice is in warm and dry area of Czech Republic. There are lot of tropical days (Tmax +30 °C or more) and tropical nights (night Tmin +20 °C or more), relative dry Summers and almost no snow last years.

Station CHMI (Czech Hydro-Meteorological Institute) Prague Klementinum year 2020 - data row for very long time - since year 1775 aviable at web site portal.chmi.cz section historicka data - Praha Klementinum:

Year 2020 in Praha Klementinum was a bit colder than previous years 2018 and 2019 (Warmest years 1775-2020) however year 2020 was still one of warmest year from period 1775-2020. Winter (December-January-February) 2019-2020 in Praha Klementinum was by average temperature second warmest in history (from period 1775-2020), warmest Winter in Praha Klementinum is Winter 2006-2007. Spring 2020 was quite warm , April was very dry, warm, sunny. Summer 2020 was colder than previous Summers 2018 and 2019. Tropical days (daily Tmax +30 °C or more) were not so many and Summer 2020 was more rainy (better than previous years). Autumn 2020 was warm, There was high precipitatin ammount in September and October, however November was dry. December 2020 was very warm and quite dry (precipitation bellow normal). Precipitation ammount in Czech Republic during year 2020 was much higher in east than in west. Precipitation ammount in Praha Klementinum for year 2020 is bellow normal. Monthly temperature anomally from normal ECAD 1775-2004 was bellow average only in May (-0.30 °C), highest average temperature anomally was in February (+6.19 °C) and January (+4.38 °C) and December (+3.79 °C). Average temperature for entire year 2020 in Praha Klementinum is +12.30 °C with yearly average temperature anomally from normal ECAD 1775-2004 +2.76 °C. Year 2020 in Praha Klementinum is one of warmest years from period 1775-2020.

However, Summer was not so warm as Summer in previous years. There were not so much Tropical days (daily Tmax +30 °C or more) and not so much Tropical nights (night Tmin +20 °C or more). Extreme high average temperature anomally was during all Winter months. Average daily temperature amplitude was lower than in year 2019, due to colder Summer. However Average daily temperature amplitude in April was wery high. There were more days with significant precipitation ammount than during year 2020 in Praha Klementinum.

Station Czech Agricultural university in Prague  - ZCU is located almost outside of Prague, at district 6 Suchdol. This station belongs to University and station is not belonging to CHMI (Czech Hydro-Meteorological institite), and station is not between private or profesional station at website in-pocasi.cz. Data are aviable since 31.03.2004 - daily and hourly data, data once 10-15 minutes. Data from station are at university website and it is easy to work with data. Due to station location - more-less on the border or out of urban area, heat city island is very reduced more-less to zero, if any (Similar like proffesional station 11567 Praha Kbely). Yearly average temperature on this station is signigficantly lower than at station Praha Karlov (at hill and roof in Prague center), Praha Klementinum (at total center with lot of buildings and low altitude), or even at station 11520 Praha Libus (South of Prague). Due to location of Station Czech Agricultural university in Prague, daily Tmax are not so high and ammount of Tropical days (Tmax +30 °C or more) is lower than at station 11520 Praha Libus. There are temperature data from station (Daily Tmax, Daily Tmin, Daily Tavg, Daily 5cm ground minimum), relative humidity, Pressure (not reduced to sea level), wind speed and direction, with gusts, ammount of global solar radiation. Winter 2019-2020 (December-January-February) was extreme warm, extreme warm was December 2020. Summer 2020 was colder than extreme hot Summer 2018 or 2019. Ammount of tropical days (Tmax +30 °C or more) and Tropical nights (night Tmin +20 °C or more) in year 2020 is lower than in previous years. There was not any day with Tmax +35 °C or more, there was not any day with daily Tmin +20 °C or more during year 2020. Precipitation ammount was better (more precipitations) than in previous years. Rainiest months were June 108.2 mm and October 72.8 mm (Precipitation ammount in October 2020 was significantly higher in east of Czech Republic). Driest months were January 5.8 mm (with inversion often), November 10.0 mm and April 10.6 mm. April was extreme warm, sunny, dry with high daily temperature amplitude. During year 2020 - warmest month was August with Tavg +20.33 °C, coldest month January with Tavg +1.79 °C. Average temperature anomally was highest in February +5.72 °C, lowest in May -1.15 °C. Only May was month with temperature anomally bellow normal during year 2020.

By data from Station Czech Agricultural university in Prague  ZCU - Ammount of global Solar radiation by surface for entire year 2020 was 4088.1 MJ/m2 it is 1135.6 kWh/m2 (The same ammount of electrical energy costed in year 2020 around 5000 Kc or 200 Eur, unfortunately it will cost much more since Autumn 2021. This ammount of energy fits to heat 9780 liters of water (9.78 m3) from 0 °C to 100 °C (with hypothetical 100 % effectivity).

Temperature normals for every day were calculated for Praha Klementinum from dataset ECAD 1775-2004, and then difference (Yearly Tavg normal Praha Klementinum - Yearly Tavg station Czech Agricultural university in Prague - ZCU) was taken from Klementinum normals. By this way (difference of yearly normals) - daily normals of average temperature for station Czech Agricultural university in Prague - ZCU were made. This is not exact way, however observation serie from station Czech Agricultural university in Prague - ZCU (since 31.03.2004) is definitely too short for creating daily or even monthly normals. Monthly normals of average temperature for station Czech Agricultural university in Prague - ZCU are from -2.04 °C (January) to +18.63 °C (July), yearly normal average temperature for station ZCU is +8.50 °C (+8.49 °C), daily Tavg normals are from -2.6 °C (09-15th January) to +19.1 °C (31th July and 1st August). For recent years - Yearly average temperature at station ZCU was always higher than Tavg yearly normal +8.50 °C.

SYNOP statation 11520 Praha Libus located at south of Prague, aerological soundings run every day 00 06 12 UTC at the same station (Sounding at 18 UTC have been canceled few years back). Station is at small hill and light slope, near border of Prague urban area, still between block of flats. City heat island affected 11520 Praha Libus still. But city heat island is much bigger at station Praha Karlov or Praha Klementinum. Climate at 11520 Praha Libus is bit warmer than at stations relative outside of Prague - 11567 Praha Kbeby (airport) and 11518 Praha Ruzyne (main airport), including higher Amount of Tropical days (Tmax +30 °C or more). There is much more tropical nights (night Tmin +20 °C or more)  at Praha Klementinum (or at Praha Karlov, but at Praha Karlov not so much as at Praha Klementinum), than at 11520 Praha Libus. Highest Tmax during heat vawe is usually higher at Praha Libus than at Praha Karlov or at Praha Klementinum. Amount of tropical days is relative similar at Praha Libus like at Praha Klementinum. There are usually higher daily Tmax and Tmin at station Praha Karlov than at station Praha Libus, especially during clear days and nights. Praha Karlov is on the hil, at center of Prague and on the roof of house.

Station Praha Libus runs fully automated during night 21-05 UTC, including limited automatic weather recognize. Human observations are only during day and evening (06-21 UTC).

Data for station are from Ogimet SYNOP, station 11520 Praha Libus (50.1 north, 14.45 east, 304 m above sea, mean Solar time is 57 minutes after UTC, 3 minutes less than SEC (Middle-European Winter time), Solar midnight 23:03 UTC, Solar noon 11:03 UTC).

Daily summary of precipitation is usually 06-06 UTC, but it should be possible to find from SYNOP report precipitation Amount for every hour and daily summary 23-23 UTC should fit. If precipitation Amount is only track (less than 0.1 mm, but non-zero), then value is given 0.04 mm (real exact value is too small for determine, it is just non-zero).

Year 2020 was at station 11520 Prague Libus with extreme warm Winter (December-January-February) 2019-2020 and exteme warm December 2020. Autumn 2020 was with quite lot of rain, but east of Czech Republic has signiticantly higher precipitation Amount than Prague (for Autumn 2020). Summer 2020 was not so warm, significantly colder than extreme Summers 2018 and 2019. There was not a day with Tmax +35 °C or more, whole-day Tmin +20 °C or more during year 2020 at station 11520 Praha Libus. There was significantly less tropical days (Tmax +30 °C or more) during year 2020 than during previous years. East of Czech Republic got significantly more precipitation during year 2020. There was higher precipitation Amount at 11520 Praha Libus in year 2020 than in previous years. Warmest month of year 2020 is August with Tavg +20.56 °C, coldest month January with Tavg +1.95 °C. Month with highest precipitation Amount are August 132.6 mm, June 108.1 mm, driest months are November 10.6 mm, January 10.7 mm and April 11.4 mm. April was extreme warm and extreme sunny and dry, with high average temperature amplitude, it is visible in graphs.

Proffesional station 11858 Hurbanovo is located inside very flat lowland ni south Slovakia, near border with Hungary. Donau lowland in Slovakia is very flat with no hills at all (Around town Komarno, Galanta, Nove Zamky) but Hurbanovo is probably at very small hill. Hills start east from Komarno and bigger hills starts near Sturovo. Location of Hurbanovo - south-west Slovakia and very flat lowland, casuses very warm climate with quite warm and dry Summers. This area is warmest in Slovakia and warmer than any place in Czech Republic. There are usually lot of Summer days (Tmax +25 °C or more) and Tropical days (Tmax +30 °C or more) per year in Hurbanovo, more than 50 tropical days and more than 100 Summer days occured in Hurbanovo last years. By Ogimet SYNOP 2000-2020 highest daily Tmax - Txx at 11858 Hurbanovo is 20.07.2007 +40.3 °C, it is national record Txx for Slovakia. Highest Tmax - Txx for 11858 Hurbanovo by GSOD 1973-2020 or even by ECAD probably since 1871 is the same - 20.07.2007 +40.3 °C - Absolute historical Slovakian nationa record Txx. Hurbanovo is small town in open area, fohn effect from Alps is there not so strong, like in South Moravie (South-East of Czech Republic). Amount of tropical nights (night Tmin +20 °C or more) is not so big in Hurbanovo, like in south Moravia, and whole-day Tmin +25 °C or more have not occured in Hurbanovo since 2000. By Ogimet SYNOP 2000-2020 Highest whole-day Tmin - Tnx at 11858 Hurbanovo is 29.07.2013 +24.8 °C.

Hurbanovo is more far from Atlantic and cold blast from north and north-east are stronger than in Prague or west of Czech republic. However, Arctic day (daily Tmax -10.0 °C or less) occured in Hurbanovo 12-13.01.1987 last time, it was near Arctic day 07.01.2017 with daily Tmax -9.6 °C. By Ogimet SYNOP 2000-2020 lowest daily Tmax - Txn at 11858 Hurbanovo is 07.01.2017 -9.6 °C and lowest whole-day Tmin - Tnn is 12.01.2003 -21.5 °C - only one day in 11858 Hurbanovo with Tmin bellow -20 °C during period 2000-2020. Historical minimum Tnn for Hurbanovo is 11.02.1929 -35.0 °C (from ECAD dataset). By GSOD 1973-2020 - Lowest Tmin - Tnn for 11858 Hurbanovo is 13.01.1987 -23.0 °C, lowest Tmax - Txn 12.01.1987 -14.8 °C and last Arctic day 13.01.1987 with Tmax -13.1 °C. Hurbanovo is in open lowland, any bigger hills are far away. It causes, that minimum temperatures during Arctic blasts do not go so low. There was big Arctic blast in Slovakia during January 2017, 08.01.2017 Tmin in Hurbanovo -18.1 °C but Tmin in station Dudince -30.3 °C. Dudince station is located in lowland, south Slovakia, but there are bigger mountains not so far away. Warm-Half year (April-September) is usually very warm, sunny, dry in South Slovaian lowland by Donau.

Yearly precipitation normal in Hurbanovo is over 500 mm per year (by shmu.sk normal 1961-1990 522 mm per year, by Ogimet SYNOP 2000-2020 577 mm per year. Highest yearly precipitation Amount in Hurbanovo by Ogimet SYNOP 2000-2020 is in year 2010 with 983 mm, lowest yearly precipitation Amount in year 2003 with 332 mm.

Yearly Sunshine normal for Hurbanovo (for which period ?) is by Slovakian Hydro-Meteorological Institute - shmu.sk 2190 hours per year. By Ogimet SYNOP 2000-2020 longest yearly Sunshine duration is 2540 hours in year 2018. Sunshine duration normal by Ogimet SYNOP 2000-2020 is 2076 hours per year. Year 2020 in 11858 Hurbanovo was with wery warm Winter (December-January-February) 2019-2020 and wery warm December 2020. Autumn 2020 was with lot of rain (similar like east of Czech Republic), but Summer 2020 and especially Spring 2020 was wery dry in Hurbanovo (Summer in Czech Republic was dry, but not so much, June was with lot of rain, July in west was quite dry). Summer 2020 was not so warm like Summers in previous years (extreme Summers 2018 and 2019). There was not day with Tmax +35 °C or more during year 2020, and two days were with all-day Tmin +20 °C or more during year 2020 in Hurbanovo. Tropical days (Tmax +30 °C or more) occured during year 2020 less than in previous years, however there was still 38 Tropical days in Hurbanovo during year 2020 (11858 Hurbanovo in history - only one year 1926 is without Tropical day, highest Amount of Tropical days is during year 2003, it is 61 by ECAD data or 62 by Ogimet SYNOP data). Warmest month during year 2020 was August with Tavg +22.92 °C and July with Tavg +21.97 °C, coldest month January with Tavg -0.03 °C, second coldest December with Tavg +3.97 °C. There was no really cold advection in Hurbanovo during January 2020 BUT inversion situation occured very often. That's why Slovakia or Hungary has no SYNOP station, where Winter 2019-2020 is without Ice day (daily Tmax bellow 0 °C). And January 2020 was colder in Slovakia than in Czech Republic. Slovakian station in Tatra Mountain, at very high altitude - 11930 Lomnicky stit (2633 m above Sea) observed very warm January anomally, January 2020 is there with Tavg -5.99 °C and with many days Tmax above 0 °C. (Ogimet SYNOP daily summary 23-23 UTC).

Yearly precipitation Amount at 11858 Hurbanovo is 492.6 mm during year 2020, that is bellow normal, even when precipitation Amount in October 2020 is much above normal. Precipitation Amount in year 2020 is above normal at 11520 Praha Libus and many Czech stations, especially in east of Czech Republic, but not at Slovakian 11858 Hurbanovo or Donau Lowland - south Slovakia. At 11858 Hurbanovo during year 2020 - wettest months were October with 134.1 mm, March with 54.5 mm and June with 51.4 mm, driest months were April with only 2.6 mm, January with 13.6 mm and November with 20.4 mm. April 2020 is wery sunny, extreme dry, with very little clouds (compare to normal). It is visible in graphs. It is highest daily temperature amplitude at 11858 Hurbanovo in dataset Ogimet SYNOP 2000-2020. Previous daily amplitude record was 20.08.2012 22.7 °C (Tmax +36.4 °C, Tmin +13.7 °C).

Upper air soundings from proffesional station 11520 Praha Libus during year 2020 - nata from University of Wyoming

There are sounding 3 times per every day, at 00 UTC, 06 UTC, 12 UTC (Sounding at 18 UTC have been canceled few years back). Graphs are created from all sounding termins, 1098 termins during year 2020. Some termins has missing data at some levels or entire sounding. Year 2020 is with significantly more missing sounding data tnan previous years. Reason is probably Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, ongoing significantly in Czech Republic since March 2020.

15 standard levels:
925 hPa, 850 hPa, 700 hPa, 500 hPa, 400 hPa, 300 hPa, 250 hPa, 200 hPa, 150 hPa, 100 hPa, 70 hPa, 50 hPa, 30 hPa, 20 hpa, 10 hPa

Due to sounding data from 11520 Praha Libus, sounding balons usually reach up to 5-7 hPa (33-37 gpkm) when blast and fall down. Triple point of Water (Ice-Water-Steam, water boiling at +0.01 °C) is at level 6.11 hPa. 6 hPa level is around 32.9-35.4 gpkm, 5 hPa level at 33.9-36.7 gpkm and 10 hPa level (last standard value) at 28.9-32.2 gpkm. gpm is geopotential meter, gpkm geopotential kilometer. 10 hPa is interseting in Winter - it can get cold (with perlet cloud) and geopotential is getting down to 29 gpkm or less (26.01.2020 06 UTC at 28970 gpm). During Summer geopotential of 10 hPa get up to 31.8 km usually (2018-2020), 04.07.2020 12 UTC 31760 gpm, 27.07.2018 00 UTC 31830 gpm (26.07.2018 12 UTC is missing). Due to all soundings from Praha Libus 1973-2020 data 6 hPa level was 32197-35509 gpm high, 5 hPa level was 33407-36763 gpm high, 10 hPa was 28000-33665 gpm high. There can be some wrong data, because format of data is not always regular and parsing HTML file can get wrong (neighboor colum etc.). 31.01.1999 12 UTC shows 10 hPa at 27670 gpm, 6 hPa at 30567 gpm, 5 hPa at 31627 gpm - there are wrong data for entire sounding.

Lowest temperature from 11520 Prague Libus soundings 1973-2020 from 15 standard levels is 27.12.2012 12 UTC at 30 hPa -84.7 °C (at 30 hPa Dew point -99.7 °C, Theta = ThetaV = ThetaE = +240.1 °C, Relative Humidity 6 % and Mixing Ration 0.00). There might be colder temperatures, but values were too low and these values supposed to be HTML parsing mistakes. And there might be lower values outside of 15 standard levels. There might be bellow -80 °C at  10 hPa in Winter. Lowest 10 hPa temperature is 17.01.1996 18 UTC -82.3 °C (Dew point bellow -100 °C, ThetaE not aviable, Theta and ThetaV +438.3 °C). There are values bellow -85 °C, 09.01.2000 18 UTC -94.9 °C (Dew point and ThetaE not aviable, Theta and ThetaV +391.3 °C) looks like value in temperature column, but probably wrong. More values bellow -85 °C or bellow -80 °C occured but these values are most likely parsing mistake (probably value from neighboor collum or row). But it can get even above -20 °C there, when SSW - Suddenly Stratospheric Warming occur. Record high for 10 hPa 1973-2020 is 12.01.2011 12 UTC -11.7 °C (At 10 hPa Dew point -57.7 °C (Relative humidity 1%, Mixing ratio 1.58 g/kg), Theta +701.5 °C, ThetaE +722.0 °C, ThetaV +702.4 °C). Standard levels from 400 hPa to 10 hPa never recorded above -10 °C at Praha Libus during period 1973-2020. It is always from sounding at 11520 Praha Libus. It can be above Siberia at 10 hPa above 0 °C  during SSW (Suddenly Stratospheric warming) in Winter.SSW can reach even above +10 °C or even above +20 °C ?

By soundings from 11520 Praha Libus (data from University of Wyoming) - Highest temperature at 850 hPa during year 2020 is 22.08.2020 00 UTC +21.4 °C (ThetaE +62.5 °C, Dew point +9.4 °C), highest ThetaE at 850 hPa during year 2020 is 14.08.2020 12 UTC +64.3 °C (T850 +15.6 °C, Dew Point +13.7 °C). Dew point at 850 hPa 14.08.2020 12 UTC +13.7 °C is highest Dew point at 850 hPa for year 2020 (At the same termin like highest ThetaE). Higher Dew point at 850 hPa occured last time during heat vawe at June-July 2019 - 01.07.2019 06 UTC T850 +20.6 °C, ThetaE at 850 hPa +72.5 °C, Dew point at 850 hPa +14.6 °C - it is one of highest ThetaE at 850 hPa and Dew point at 850 hPa in recent years.

Highest temperature at 850 hPa during period 1973-2020 at 11520 Praha Libus is 12.07.1984 00 UTC T850 +26.0 °C (ThetaE +53.0 °C, Dew point -2.0 °C), 27.07.1983.18 T850 +24.8 °C (ThetaE +60.6 °C, Dew point +5.8 °C), 08.08.2013 00 UTC T850 +24.2 °C (ThetaE +56.5 °C, Dew point +3.2 °C). Highest ThetaE and Highest Dew point at 850 hPa during period 1973-2020 at 11520 Praha Libus is from the same tremins 04.08.1986 18 UTC ThetaE +84.5 °C (Dew point +17.7 °C, T850 +21.0 °C) and 30.08.1977 12 UTC ThetaE +80.9 °C (Dew point +17.1 °C, T850 +22.0 °C) Next sounding 6 hours after - 30.08.1977 18 UTC is missing. August 1986 is well-known for very wet air and many strong thunderstorms, including 18.08.1986 supercell with 12 cm hails.

There was no ThetaE at 850 hPa bellow 0 °C in Czech Republic (sounding from 11520 Praha Libus and 11747 Prostejov) during entire year 2020 and entire cold season 2019-2020 (October-March). By soundings from 11520 Praha Libus (data from University of Wyoming) - Lowest temperature at 850 hPa and lowest ThetaE at 850 hPa is from two termins 23.03.2020 00 UTC T850 -12.1 °C (ThetaE +3.6 °C, Dew point -18.1 °C) and 30.03.2020 06 UTC T850 -11.9 °C (ThetaE +3.1 °C, Dew point -20.9 °C) (Sounding 30.03.2020 00 UTC is missing). 25.03.2020 00 UTC Dew point -36.3 °C (T850 -5.3 °C, ThetaE +8.2 °C), however lowest Dew point at 850 hPa during entire year 2020 is 06.01.2020 00 UTC Dew point -48.1 °C (T850 -1.1 °C, ThetaE +12.1 °C), it is lowest Dew point at 850 hPa for many years.

Last time, when ThetaE at 850 hPa bellow 0 °C occur at 11520 Praha Libus, is during big Arctic blast February-March 2018. Last sounding termin with ThetaE bellow zero 02.03.2018 00 UTC ThetaE 850 hPa -0.4 °C (T850 -16.3 °C, Dew point -16.3 °C), lowest values T850 and ThetaE at 850 hPa were at the same termin 28.02.2018 06 UTC T850 -20.5 °C, ThetaE 850 hPa -6.2 °C, Dew point -22.0 °C. It is far latest T850 bellow -20 °C at 11520 Praha Libus during period 1973-2020. 25.02.2018 06 UTC at 850 hPa Dew point -33.5 °C (T850 -15.5 °C, ThetaE at 850 hPa -2.4 °C).

Lowest T850 and ThetaE at 850 hPa at 11520 Praha Libus during period 1973-2020 is from three Arctic blast, from the same termins 01.01.1979 12 UTC T850 -25.7 °C (ThetaE −12.5 °C Dew point -27.6 °C), 12.01.1987 12 UTC T850 -25.3 °C (ThetaE −12.1 °C Dew point -27.9 °C), 06.02.1991 00 UTC T850 -21.9 °C (ThetaE −8.0 °C, Dew point -24.1. °C). Lowest Dew point at 850 hPa at 11520 Praha Libus during period 1973-2020 is 31.01.1999 12 UTC Dew point -55.5 °C (T850 -43.5 °C, ThetaE -32.5 °C) - Definitely wrong data, 17.02.2008 06 UTC Dew point -54.9 °C (T850 -6.9 °C, ThetaE +5.9 °C) and 10.12.2002 12 UTC Dew point -53.5 °C (T850 -5.5 °C, ThetaE +7.4 °C) and 12.12.2002 00 UTC Dew point -53.1 °C (T850 -4.1 °C, ThetaE +8.9 °C).
