Newly - daily data from Prague Klementinum are aviable at portal.chmi.cz too for period 1775-2017, pretty long period. There was heat island always, but surrounding of station have been changed. This data set is not the same like ECAD data sets some values are in difference. Precipitation are aviable since may 1804.

In period 1775-1830 cca - temperature amplitude during day was smaller, minimum temperature higher and maximum temperature lower. It affected statistics of occurrence some days. It can be because of volcanic ash.

Month with highest average temperature is still august 1807 (whole month Tmin 17.0), coldest month with coldest anomaly and coldest Tmax 0.0 is February 1929. Maximum number of days with Tmax bellow zero per month is 30. Lowest temperature anomaly, lowest maximum, average daily temperature is from 22.1.1850, lowest minimum temperature is from 1.3.1785 (and last day with Tma bellow -10 is 28.2.1785). Highest minimum temperature is from August 2015 and highest maximum temperature still from 27.7.1983.

Last year without Tmax 30 was in 1916, there are two years with Tmax bellow 27 (+26.4 i 1821 and +26.5 in 1786). 1956 was quite close - only one day with Tmax +30.0. Last year with Tmax bellow 30 in all Czech stations is 1864, it was much less stations in Czech. There was 7 year period without Tmax 30 1812-1818. Last Arctic day in Klementinum is 30.12.1996 (by ECAD 31.12.1996) and maximum number of Arctic days was 15 in year 1799.


GREEN - average annual values or sum of precipitation.
RED - maximum daily value during year.
BLUE - minimum daily value during year.
GREEN - number of days during year with some specification.

Trends are always linear. Derivation - number before X, is change by one year, constant value is not important.


For every day - during year - normal temperature Tmax, Tmin, Tavg was calculated from ECAD data 1775-2004 and anomaly of Tmax, Tmin, Tavg is from this data.

ECAD (or GHCND) dataset is for Praha Klementinum aviable only in period 01.01.1775-30.04.2005. Precipitation have been recorded since 01.05.1804, but good continuous precipitation dataset is probably since year 1807. Data after 30.04.2005 have not been aviable at all.

Archive with weather data at website in-pocasi.cz used ECAD or GHCND dataset for Praha Klementinum (and Milesovka) in past, but it have changed to dataset from portal.chmi.cz (for Praha Klementinum, Milsovka is probably still from ECAD or GHCND dataset). Daily values of maximum, minimum, average temperatures are not always equal from portal.chmi.cz and ECAD or GHCND. For example (latest Arctic day in Praha Klementinum) 28.02.1785 - Tmax by ECAD -14.0 and by portal.chmi.cz -11.0).

TXT data was downloaded and  processed in bash in year 2012.

For every day in year have been computed these values through years 1775-2004:

Txx - Highest daily maximum temperature
Txm - Average daily maximum temperature
Txn - Lowest daily maximum temperature
Tmx - Highest daily average temperature
Tmm - Average daily average temperature
Tmn - Lowest daily average temperature
Tnx - Highest daily minimum temperature
Tnm - Average daily minimum temperature
Tnn - Lowest daily minimum temperature

PrecipM - Average precipitation for every day in year through years 1805-2004. Graph with blue colums - maximum precipitation for this day through years.

Data are for period 1775-2004 (precipitation 1805-2004), for every day. There is four times less data for 29.02.XXXX. Bash works only with whole values, no decimal point, then numbers was changed (for example +26.9 to 269, and -27.6 to -276 etc.). Text processing takes 2-5 days (depends on CPU). For sure, it could be much faster in Fortran.

ECAD has two types of daily average temperatures Tavg1 and Tavg2, it depends of computing method for daily averages. Tavg2 is missing in few days (for example interesting days 28.02-01.03.1785).

This ECAD averages of daily average,maximum, minimum temperature in year I usually use like temperature (Tavg, Tmax, Tmin) normal for Praha Klementinum - normal ECAD 1775-2004. I often compute temperature anomaly from this normal (for Praha Klementinum)

Always - year, which belongs to values of long-period averages, are in the middle of longer interval (values of 31-years moving average 2000-2030 belongs to year 2015). But we have yearly data only 1775-2017. First and last year of period for long-term moving average have to be always in range 1775-2017 (for precipitation 1805-2017). That's why 201-moving average is aviable only for few years. (Precipitation data starts 01.05.1804, but it is probably complete continuous since 1807).

Scripts have been checked, but there might be always mistake.

For example 101-years moving average to year 1950 is from period 1900-2000, for year 2000 is impossible to create 101-years moving average yet. Longer period for moving average means, it is aviable for less years. And of course, longer period for moving average means smaller fluctuations.

Moving averages was computed like 1-year (classical yearly averages), 3-years, 5-years, 7-years, 11-years, 15-years, 21-years, 31-years, 41-years, 51-years, 75-years, 101-years, 151-years, 201-years, at all 14 differently long periods.

There is linear trend for every moving average. Linear value by x is important - it means change in one year by linear estimating, absolute value not with x is not important.

Somebody thinks still that climate change is not true. How they explain this graphs ?

New scripts have been created and for period 1775-2017 was computed statistics of average, highest, lowest value of daily average, maximum, minimum temperature, temperature amplutude, precipitation sum, highest daily precipitation, not only for whole year, but for Spring (March-May), Summer (June-August), Autumn (September-November), Warm half-year (April-September) and for all single calendar month. Always is used period 1775-2018 for temperature and 1805-2018 for precipitation. Statistics for Winter (December-February), cold half-year (October-March) was not created, because it begins and ends in different year and scripts do not fit.

Data for year 2018 from portal.chmi.cz was added to already exist file with Praha Klementinum data (Libre Office Calculator .ods) and new formulas was added. Now .ods file is quite big, it takes some time, until it opens, open file takes almost 4 GB RAM. It tooks a lot of CPU, when file was created amd sometimes computer froze fo a while. Old MS Office Excell (.xls until 2003 version) requires small computer power, but Libre Office (.ods) and new MS Excell (.xlsx versions since 2007) requires more computer power, sometimes a lot.

Normals for every day, for daily average, maximum, minimum temperature was created from Praha Klementinum dataset at ECAD - Home European Climate Assessment AND Dataset - https://www.ecad.eu/ in year 2012, from period 1775-2004.

Work with TXT-CSV data wa done in bash (cat, grep, sed, cut, tr), incliding formulas to Libre Office. Graphs was created in MS Excell 2003 (.xls) and converted to minimum size (png 8 bit, compression 9).

Highest values are red, average values green and lowest values blue, precipitation (sum and highest daily ammount) are always in blue collums.

Scripts have been checked, but there can still occur mistake somewhere.


Statistics for whole years (January-December) 1775-2018 (precipitation 1805-2018).
