GSOD - Tutiempo observation 1973-2017

Some stations have data before 1973 but a lot of data are missing in this period. Many stations has quite good observation set during 1973-2017 without a lot of missing data. Maximum and minimum temperature since 1982 is almost always rounded, it affected some statistics. Some extreme temperatures are rounded to whole number or half degree after 1982 too. And maximum and minimum temperature since 2015 is often from hourly observations. Many stations became automatic at all in last years, it change statistics of occurrence some events (clouds, rain, thunderstorm, snowing).

Image 1 - Baington in Tibet - station with highest elevation and good data, in tropic area.
Image 2 - Hubarnovo, in South Slovakia lowland by Donau, near Hungarin border.
Image 3 - Kahului in Hawaii it tropics, annual yearly temperature is not changing (decreasing is just statistic noise)
Image 4 - Lomnicki Stit it Slovakia, in Tatra mountatin. Highest station in Slovakia, but highest point is Gerlachovsky stit little bit higher
Image 5 - Ostrov dikson near continent, in Kara sea, west siberia. Fast warming in Arctic, especially since 2005.
Image 6 - Ostrov Goglomjannyj in Arctic ocean - west part of Severna Zemia, Russia, near Taymir - northernmost point of Eurasia. Fast warming in Arctic, especially since 2005.

Image 9 - Polish station Snezka - Sniezka on the roof of restaurant. There have been never day with Tmax above 25 °C, but in Czech station Snezka Postovna yes. In 1892 - There was day with Tmax above 25 °C, but not on the roof. In old atlas is annual average temperature in Sniezka -0.2 °C, only this place with annual temperature bellow zero. But it is long time not true.

More stations - Annual average temperature 1973-2017 and linear trends.

Image 1 - Abadan in Iran, one of hottest place in desert during Summer. Number of days with Tmax above +50 is rising. +53.7 was there in June 2017. However, some data are missing, sometimes, whole year is missing. But data are relative good since 1992. Only years with not so much missing data were used.

Image 2 - Myse in north Norway coast, 71 degrees north, similar level like Nordkapp.

Image 3 - Hopen in south Svalbard. Year 2016 was first with average temperature above zero, extremely above normal.

Abadan - it is not temperature anomaly, but annual average temperature.

Image 1 - Ojmjakon, east Siberia, in mountains. Place with coldest winter except Greenland, about -50 in January, but quite warm Summer, around 10-25 degrees, sometimes +30 degrees, but it can be -60 during winter. Ojmjakon is place with highest temperature amplitude probably. All years, including years with lot of missing data.

Image 4 - Turpan, China, place in desert, bellow sea level, 42.9 north.  Summer is very hot, sometimes with daily maximum temperature +45, but daily minimum in winter can be bellow -20.

Image 5 - Vostok, Antarctica, inside continent, on ice sheet, elevation 3420 m, probably coldest GSOD station, temperature never have been above -10.  All years, including years with lot of missing data.

Image 6 - Sevilla San Pablo, South Spain, Andalusia. Station in lowland, but not on coast. This place is onle of hottest spots in Europe, Temperature often exceed 40 deg. and some years are complete without frost.

Image 7 - Wroclaw II, south-west Poland, warm region of Poland, station with good quality data.

Number of tropic days during year

Tropic day is day with maximum temperature +30 deg. C and more. Some stations in north or in high elevation are complete without tropic days. Number of days during year can be affected a lot with missing data, b years were removed. Trends are always linear.

Number of Super-Tropic days and hyper-Tropic days during year

Super-Tropic day is day with maximum temperature +40 deg. C and more (this name is used sometimes for days with Tmax +35 deg. C and more), Hyper-Tropic day is day with maximum temperature +50 deg. C and more. Only stations in warm regions are with days with Tmax +40 deg. C and more. Tmax +50  deg. C and more is still very rare - only in few desert regions, like Iranian lowlands, around Persian Gulf, or Death Valley in California. In some places in north America ca be above +50 deg. C. too. Number of days during year can be affected a lot with missing data, b years were removed. Trends are always linear. Number of Super-Tropic and Hyper-Tropic days during year is increasing too. Probably, warmest Summer temperatures are in Lut desert in Iran (station is not there yet) and in USA, Death Valley. However any record with Tmax +55 and more is dubious and not relevant so much.

Here are Complete data for download from this project Tutiempo observation 1973-2017. CSV files are basic with daily data and XLS (MS Excell 2003 files) are complete with formatted daily data, complete statistics (maximum, minimum, average, number of days, missing data), small and big graphs, and PNG images - small and big graphs. XLS files with complete everything are relative big.
